Berlin - On The Streets - Graffiti and cultural aesthetic

The streets in Berlin, especially in the East due to the infiltration of young creatives into derelict buildings when the wall came down, is filled with graffiti and an overwhelming amount of stickers, posters and flyers.

The city is extremely vibrant as a result. They use simple thin paper (like newsprint) and PVA glue to stick up the works, and due to the short term nature of this way of postering, there is a strong layering and ripping aesthetic throughout. Although not on purpose, this is something that really attracted me to the overall visual of the city, and I found it really mirrored the works of Charlie Anderson, who is one of my favourite artists. The subsequent collaged compositions create really raw pieces that 'accidentally' combine the work of multiple people into one whole piece, which I find really beautiful.
