Abstract Expressionism - Royal Academy

As photography wasn't allowed at the Royal Academy, there were very limited and off-scale photos to record the experience of this exhibition. With huge classics like Jackson Pollock and Rothko, there was a huge sense of emotion throughout the experience, and afterwards I definitely felt a huge sensation of exhaustion. The focus on colour, line and shape alone, to enable these emotions onto a viewer is an interesting phenomenon which made the abstract expressionist movement so acknowledged. The pure scale and impact of the pieces I found surprising. It definitely was a real eye opener into the significant of colour combinations and scale in effecting the emotions and reaction of an audience - which is essentially a vital skill to master in graphic design when considering billboard advertisement of simply branding.
