Amsterdam - NDSM - Foam - Stedelijk Museum

NDSM is an amazing community formed after an abandoned ship port in Amsterdam was taken over my creatives, who redeveloped the entire scene. Moving in and building creative offices, the small island has been transformed into a vibrant artistic haven. With graphic design, animation, illustration and all sorts of design offices within, the area is free to roam and admire the scenery and redevelopment of a once run down area.

I found the randomness to be somewhat refreshing, and the scale and freedom of graffiti which has contributed positively to the aesthetics of the environment to be awesome. Abandoned port containers had been filled with artists materials like spray cans and canvases and the area was being completely utilised in ways one wouldn't have expected on this small island.

Stedelijk Museum

One of the biggest contemporary art museums in Amsterdam, it exhibits work ranging from Warhol to historic Graphic design figures. I particularly enjoyed the variation in design through the years as displayed and found this particularly inspiring.

Foam

A really more photography based gallery in Amsterdam, where I found this artist who has used collage in a really inspiring and captivating way. His use of colour coordination and layout I found to be really amazing, and definitely something I would like to work with. I loved the roughness and personality brought across in his work, and the raw ability to story tell that entails.
