A friend's band 'The Sunshine Detectives' reached out for some cover art for their newest single 'Lady Gaia'. This included the record cover and an accompanying inside CD design. I particularly enjoy design that is for music due to its freedom in materials used for production. This brief was thus a great way to do some old-school illustration, something that I find is lost in the Graphic Design course.
The song, being named 'Lady Gaia' had strong representations of 60s nostalgia and ideas of personifying mother earth. The band has a psychedelic-rock tone to their music, and as such the design researched relevant 60s posters for inspiration for the cover art.
A great thing that came out of this job was that I was particularly attracted to their existing logotype typeface 'Stoltz Display', and thus looked into its context for use within my own branding.

The initial drawing was then scanned and digitalised, before colouring was applied. The background then added a grainy texture to further this idea of 60s nostalgia. The type utilised their existing identity typeface and Century Gothic due to its psychedelic art-era contextual relevant.
