failed degree, sent out portfolio to grafik magazine and got internship
bring clients with you on your creative journey in order to get what you want out of projects - sell your work by visualising it, integral to the process, theres no point being a graphic designer if you cant sell your work'
document your work - think of it as part of your project - do it well and it will lead to the next project  - e.g. if apple changed icons to circles from squares logo would need to be reformatted

Old Spike coffee house - social welfare/ enterprise for the homeless, premium coffee sold you michelin star restaurants
Documenting the work:
1. create a mood - rocks and materials of other products
2. all about packaging with little conceptial finish
3. revisiting and improving - work with photographer when possible - keep it up to scratch with the new projects

Other Approaches
1. keep it simple - case study: haw-lin services - Berlin based, modernist clean cut, texture, modest, all about the graphics done - purely presented, becomes more about the design itself, typographic choices etc, its nice that showreel
top Berlin type - creative talk online
2. context and pace - case study: OK-RM - set the scene a little bit - flat scans, material background, clean grey & black background,
- disobedient bodies at hepworth - shot on cushion of a leather sofa (context and texture w/o being too repetitive)
- exhibition design
3. nonchalant / raw approach - case study: veronica ditting / petronio associates - high end fashion brands Parisian based (shot on disposables), appear effortless, using natural light

The Director's Cut

you're making the best of a project to get the next project - no-one knows what was actually used/ printed
details of an object / showing it in own right
Make the most of this time
relationship with the printers, inform of new papers, foils, embossing, techniques, keep them in mind

Helping out with 'Work in Context'
Feedback from Chris:
- Publication design - needed a more interesting material to acetate, solution: coloured gel
- Wanted to use different materials for the pages however cannot print double sided, solution: no bind, open publication with folds and examples showing its that leaving empty space can really work

Comments:
I loved his style of work and the simplicity of his design outputs with their ability to solve the problem well and clearly. My favourite was the branding for the paper and colour stock company Fanklin and Till. Particularly enjoyed the grabs from their website and how the projects answer an enquiry question, giving them a lot of authority and context. This is something I'd be interested in replicating in a style more relevant to my own practice.
