Illustrations

6D2

Outside of my practice I have always been an avid doodler. As such and to get back into using the softwares after the summer break, I decided to colourise and digitalise my meaningless drawings, to give them some context. These could then be shared on social media to build a following.

Drawing is something I do as a meditative practice, mostly creating things that reflect current social issues or documentaries I have been watching / thoughts been thinking in general. The point of this personal project was to experiment with Photoshop and Illustrator, to see methods of taking a simple image and giving it a greater application. Even if that's just brightening someone's day.

1. 'Just some queens'
This was used as an outlet for experimenting with colour theory

2. 'The edge of the internet'
This short story was a reaction to the documentary 'Do You Trust This Computer'. The production was a fun short tale expressing the depth of the cyberspace world and how easily we find ourselves lost in it in todays saturated media culture.

Gif for social media:

 3. Scrumpy Skull
Inspired by Pirate Radio after watching 'The Boat That Rocked'.

4. 'Ancestors & Aang'
Inspired by the hit TV show Avatar: The Last Airbender which I have been non-stop watching.

The next set were some responsive face drawings for possible tattoo designs. The focus was on geometric form and ideas of the coexistence of humans and nature, off the back of research conducted into the Anthropocene for my COP3 project.

Mike Perry Studio, New York

6B2
Mike Perry is one of my favourite artists and someone I spoke about in my final PPP Presentation of Level 5.

'Mike Perry Studio – New York
After watching Broad City – one of my favourite TVshows, I have been in love with Mike Perry’s animations and illustrations. I recently found out that the students on the New York trip this year got to visit him, so I have asked for a contact number and will be getting in touch over summer.

As such, in the end of summer when I was in New York I emailed the man himself to see if we could arrange a studio visit. I did not receive a reply however this was still a valuable lesson in planning, persistence and managing expectations.

PPP Session 1: Building Confidence as a Designer

6B2

In groups we discussed our fears about the future and our downfalls. This was in order to show that everyone experiences the same worries, and to be a good designer you just have to be yourself :) and understand the client! Everyone is just a person, believe in yourself and everyone else will believe in you too. Fake it till you make it.
